Things Twice

Deja News

Perhaps the best way to search the archives is with Google Groups. Click here to search.

The UseNet News archives go back to 11 May 1981, well before and which began on 31 July 1989.

Alternatively, there used to be the archives of HWY61-L (the e-mail digest which carries a selection of postings) using either the HWY61-L Web search engine or the HWY61-L e-mail search engine. With the e-mail search engine the results of your search are e-mailed to you usually within a few minutes of the submission of your request. The HWY61-L archives go back to February 1995. Is this still online anywhere?

Keywords for which you want to search:

Separate the search terms with spaces

Boolean Operator: AND OR

Case Insensitive Sensitive

Note that checking the options 'AND' and 'Sensitive' gives you the narrowest search conditions, checking 'OR' and 'Insensitive' the broadest. If your search is unsuccessful, try using a broader set of search conditions or searching on fewer terms.

The Web

Highway 61

The official EDLIS search site was Highway 61, a metasearch engine that would submit your search to Yahoo, Lycos, Infoseek, HotBot, Excite, etc., and then list the results on a single page.

Highway 61 was a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary of EDLIS' Mozambique holding company. Copies of its financial statements are available from EDLIS Centrale's Swiss bankers or from your local branch of Coopers & Lybrand.
